Judo Community Remembers Khaled Barakat Ibrahim

The international judo community is mourning Khaled Barakat Ibrahim of Jordan, a former President of the Jordan Judo Federation and a dedicated member of the IJF Development Commission.
Barakat Ibrahim devoted much of his life to serving judo, working at both national and international level. His efforts supported the growth of the sport in Jordan while also contributing to the wider work of the International Judo Federation.
As a commissioner within the IJF Development Commission, he was involved in initiatives designed to make judo accessible to more people and help its values reach new generations. The IJF highlighted his understanding of judo’s educational potential and his readiness to support the global judo community.
His work earned respect and friendship from colleagues around the world. For those who worked alongside him, he will be remembered for his kindness, dedication and lasting presence in the sport.
Khaled Barakat Ibrahim’s contribution reached far beyond Jordan’s borders.
He was also pictured presenting the medals in the -81kg category at the Qazaqstan Barysy Grand Slam 2025 in Astana, reflecting his continued involvement on the international judo stage.
The International Judo Federation has offered its condolences to his family and friends, the Jordan Judo Federation and the entire Jordanian judo community. At a difficult moment for everyone connected to him, the judo family remembers a leader who gave significant time and energy to the sport’s development.
